Maintenance Worker

Description:

This is skilled work in minor repair and facility maintenance performed under the supervision of the Facilities and Ground Director. The maintenance worker will be responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of the facility, completing minor repairs, upkeep of agency’s building and properties and reporting repairs of assigned centers.

JOD DUTITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Inspects facilities and ground, including playgrounds, and identifies items in need of repair.
  2. Properly and safely use common tools such as hammers, wrenches, saw, drills, electronics test devices, and other hand tools to complete assigned tasks.
  3. Performs general repairs to classroom furniture, windows, plumbing, doors, floors, drywall, and other parts of building, etc. including painting.
  4. Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure building systems operate effectively and physical condition of building do not deteriorate.
  5. Complete assigned work order as well as track and record repairs, track cost of equipment and supplies as needed to complete assigned duties.
  6. Order parts and supplies from hardware store as well as from agency’s warehouse.
  7. Responds to repairs and maintenance request in a timely manner
  8. Install equipment and appliances.
  9. Check functionality of safety system (e.g. fire alarm).
  10. Performs cleaning activates such as pressure washing building and playground equipment, washing maintenance utility vans,  and waxing floors, etc.
  11. Conduct maintenance task such as replacing light bulbs equipment and tool batteries.
  12. Assist with the setup of new classrooms (moving, assembling shelves, tables, etc.) and the closedown of centers/classrooms.
  13. Assist with the organizing and ongoing maintenance of center storage buildings.
  14. Conduct detailed summer maintenance at Head Start and Early Head Start centers from the summer maintenance plan (pressure washing canopies, playgrounds, cleaning and waxing floors, organizing storage building, etc.)
  15. Follow local and state building codes and complies with all FCM, Inc. health and safety regulations.
 
Requirements:

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to read and follow instructions.
  2. Must have knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and repairs.
  3. Skills in performing routine building maintenance.
  4. Must possess the ability to communicate orally and in writing

DESIRABLE QUALIFICAITIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read, write, and understand general information in carrying out assignments; three years’ experience in building maintenance.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must meet minimal physical and medical standards.
