GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Human Resource (HR) Manager, the Training Coordinator is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the training and professional development activities of staff for the Head Start (HS) /Early Head Start (EHS), EHS-Child Care Partner (CCP). The Coordinator coordinates the systematic implementation of training for Head Start staff, parents, and community partners. The Training Coordinator supports the Management team with implementing training needs in accordance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards. In addition, the Coordinator identifies individual and group training needs and administers plans, procedures and programs to meet needs of staff; and, subsequently evaluates their effectiveness.
The Coordinator works closely with Head Start, Early Head Start and Child Care Partner staff to develop and implement new and innovative trainings and help individuals and groups develop skills. The Coordinator will create training manuals, presents in-person and zoom training sessions and monitors effectiveness of trainings.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Utilizes Head Start Program Performance Standards in the implementation of trainings and professional development needs for HS/EHS staff.
- Establishes/updates the training plan for the HS/EHS/EHS- CCP programs.
- Oversees professional development of departmental training materials, including multimedia visual aids and presentations, as needed.
- Works with Management team to craft individualized training plans for employees and/or teams and assesses progress.
- Analyzes training program effectiveness and submits reports and recommendations to management.
- Implements and sustains learning strategies and objectives.
- Determines training needs and requirements by meeting with managers, employees, and/or administering surveys.
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures associated with Head Start/Early Head Start training requirement that meet federal and state regulations.
- Assist with the development, implementation and tracking of staff Professional Development Plan.
- Responsible for the Training & Technical Assistance section of the continuation application and other state and federal grants in collaboration with program managers.
- Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.

- Identify training needs by analyzing organization results, job requirements, operational problems, Performance Appraisals, plans and forecasts, Professional Development Plans, and current training programs. Assist in tracking Professional Development Plans.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of the agency’s pre-service and in-service training programs.
- Coordinate staff participation in various training programs and conferences with input from the immediate supervisor and Department Directors to achieve agency objectives.
- Coordinate annual training needs assessment.
- Assist the management team in preparing the training and development budget: schedule expenditures; approve educational request in accordance with guidelines.
- Advise and counsel managers regarding appropriateness and availability of training activities.
- Assist with counseling individual managers and employees by identifying learning requirements; designing an individual training or development program; and coaching to improve performance.
- Assist in coordinating performance evaluation reviews; schedule dates for reviews according to established Human Resource Procedures; distribute forms to appropriate supervisors for completion; and follow-up until completed forms are returned to the Human Resources Department.
- Assist the management team in updating the agency’s training plan annually.
- Perform other human resource functions as assigned by the HR Manager.
