Description: GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Location: Central Office - 130 Riverview Drive, Suite C, Flowood, MS 39232 This work is performed under the supervision of the Family and Community Engagement Director. The employee is responsible for monitoring child attendance, formulating, coordinating and implementing the development of parent engagement and volunteer activities trough the utilization of public and private agencies and other local resources in accordance with policies and procedures of the agency and Administration of Children and Families (ACF). Work involves integrating parent engagement activities and volunteer services into all aspects of the agency. 2. Assist in facilitating in the understanding of Head Start Program Performance Standards Parent Family Community Engagement Framework and the Head Start Act. 3. Assist in providing training and provide technical support for the Policy Council on their roles and responsibilities, program planning and operation and decision-making. 6. Manage volunteer service recruitment and in-kind contributions for the agency. Manage volunteer time records and other documentation to verify non-federal share contributions to the finance department. 9. Assist in the developing and updating the Parent Handbook and Parent Resource Booklet. 10. Organize training sessions for parents to enhance their skills and techniques for improving their living conditions, aiding them in becoming self-sufficient, etc. 11. Assist the Policy Council and Parent Committee members with the expenditure of parent activity funds and preparing travel and childcare reimbursement, if required. 16. Conduct a home visit if a child’s attendance does not improve to determine reasons and revise the Attendance Plan of Action for improvement. If no progress is made, collaborate with Center Manager, Family Service Worker/Case Worker(s) to recommend slot termination. 17. Assist in the development and conducting analysis of parents’ surveys, questionnaires, etc. 19. Assist in the implementation of effective transition plans for children and families "into" and "out of" the Head Start and Early Head Start program. 20. Attend trainings, meetings and conferences as scheduled and/or assigned. 21. Report all issues or concerns that have a potential detrimental impact on the agency in accordance with established procedures. 22. Assist in the completion of other job duties as assigned. |
Requirements: DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: 1. Thorough knowledge of the service area including community resources that are available. 2. Skills in the use of computers for communicating and compiling various reports. 3. Ability to always function in a mature professional manner with good judgment. 4. Skilled in verbal and written communication and the ability to speak before large groups. 5. Ability to establish effective working relationships and to motivate adults of varying educational socioeconomic backgrounds. 6. Ability to function as a team member. 7. Ability to organize and carry out a comprehensive parent engagement and volunteer services program. 8. Knowledgeable of the agency's vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives. DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, or a related field and three years of experience in community organization, community development, social services or related area; or any combination of acceptable education and experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must have a valid Mississippi State Driver's License. 2. Must have access to an automobile and be willing to travel throughout the service area to carry out work assignments. 3. Must be able to meet approved minimal physical and health standards. |
